The Theater Company at Fort Lee, in association with The Lee Playhouse will hold auditions for the upcoming production of "They're Playing Our Song". Director Frank Foster, Musical Director Leilani Fenick and Choreographer Emily Dandridge are seeking adult performers (4M and 4F) for principal and secondary roles for the upcoming production.
From our director, Frank Foster:
" Vernon and Sonia are the sole characters on stage, with each of them having a three-person 'Greek Chorus' acting as their inner voices. He is a wisecracking young man, well established as a composer, and she is adorably offbeat and a budding, somewhat successful lyricist. Their ages fall between 25 and 40. The vocal range for the two are Baritone and Mezzo-Soprano."
Auditions will take place on Sunday, July 11 at 2 PM, and Thursday, July 22 at 7 PM at the Lee Playhouse (4300 Mahone Ave, Fort Lee, 23801). Those auditioning should prepare one 32-bar musical theatre selection and bring sheet music in the correct key (accompanist provided), and be prepared for movement and dance auditions. Readings will be from the script. No performers paid. Rehearsals will begin late July for a September 3-19 run.
As we are striving to make our casting more diverse and inclusive, we encourage all to audition, regardless of gender/gender identity, race/ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, national origin or religion.
